Philippines will now require car seats for babies and toddlers! The Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act of 2017 was approved by the House of Representatives last year and is now up for deliberation in the Senate.
Are we ready for that?
I just came from the media launch of Joie (pronounced as Joy) and I’m so happy to share that we need not look any further to get quality car seats and strollers so that we can bring the kids!
Joie
Joie, an international company from London, is a family-first kind of company that is driven by the simple joys of childhood. Joie’s designs have garnered numerous awards, including the prestigious 2016 Best Baby and Toddler Gear Consumer Choice and Best Baby and Toddler Gear Gold Award for Literax 4, a fuss-free one-hand transporter, and some other award-winning products.
Car Safety
JP Tuason, President and founder of Tuason racing School & TRS Driver Development Academy, International Race car driver and champion, Road safety advocate and a father of 5, gave a short talk about car safety. He could not stress hard enough how important it is for us to wear seat belts, especially the kids!
He even showed a video of a car crash wherein the passenger who was not wearing a seat belt nearly flew out of the window upon impact!
That alone made me rack the storage for our car seats when I got home. They’re actually just gathering dust because, let’s face it, we’re just not used to it here.
Camille and Joie
Philippine TV’s beloved princess, Camille Prats Yambao however, aims to change that as she partners with Joie to help raise awareness for children’s safety while traveling.
“I believe that safety is important, especially when we’re on the road with our children,” says Prats Yambao. “That’s why I am so thankful that finally, we will soon be required to make sure our babies and children are protected while they are riding in vehicles. It’s also great that Joie, one of the best brands trusted by parents around the world for this purpose, is also now available here in the Philippines.”

“I know that here in the Philippines, a lot of parents are not used to putting their babies and toddlers in car seats, but in other countries it has been required for a long time already, because of the safety factor. So it’s about time that we focus on keeping our children safe when travelling,” says Prats-Yambao. “Using the Joie car seat gives me peace of mind, and greater mobility too, while riding in the car. At least I don’t have to carry the baby all the time while on the road – which is less hassle for me, and keeps the baby calm and happy,” she adds.

Joie Products
Here are some of the best selling Joie car seats and strollers.
Here’s the Pact Lite Joie Stroller that Camille uses and this little girl seems to want to take it home. 🙂
This is the mother of all car seats, the Joie Every Stage! It grows with your child. It is suitable for use from 0-12 years old, has 5 recline positions, 10-position head rest, and has side impact protection.
It’s truly a worthy investment compared to buying 3 separate car seats as your child’s need differs (see car seat guidelines below).
Where to Buy
Joie products are now available in SM Baby Company stores and leading department stores in the Philippines. Check out the latest products from Joie, which you can also order conveniently online at www.KidsCompany.com.ph.
Car Seat Guidelines

So, are you “Child Safety in Motorized Vehicles Act of 2017” ready? Because Camille and I sure are! 🙂
We used car seats when my son was still a baby til preschool age. But when we went to my mom last summer, she bought a car seat for my son pa, 8yrs old na anak ko pero need pa rin because of the height requirement daw. Strict sa ibang bansa pero sa atin wala lang.
I hope that we’ll soon be stricter with our car safety laws. It’s too much hassle, true, but it’s for the kids’ safety naman.

My son always freaks out every time we put him in a car seat. Until he reached 3, ayaw niya talaga. Hay, I feel like a bad parent tuloy because I know it’s unsafe to travel without his car seat.
Last year we bought a second-hand carseat kasi naisip namin our daughter is turning 3 na this year di na magagamit, but whooaah, this Joie carseat is for 0-12years old. SULIT! Will check their car seats.
I consider carseat as important. When I wasnt still pregnant with my fifth, I drive the boys to school and often, my fourth is with us. He just sat comfortably at the back in his car seat. Such helpful for this mom.
We’re ready! Thankfully our two older kids are used to being in their car seats. Those are a must for us because they’re so kulit if they’re not strapped. 😀 I have yet to buy one for our third mini so looking into this!

My son has always been so stubborn when using a carseat, but now that he’s a toddler, we saw how car seats can really be hassle-free for parents who are driving (with no help with them), and of course, with the safety it can give to a child! I haven’t tried the Joie brand, though I’ve seen other friends of mine using this brand, and they say they can give their full trust on it. Thanks for sharing this, momma!
My kids don’t mind seat belts too much. It’s just that I will need to purchase 3 that we can carry around — but not sure if they will be approved by LTFRB because that’s part of the rule, car seats need to be approved by the government. We take Uber/Grab all the time, so it’s a bit of a problem for us because our service might get stopped on the road because of the seat belt mandate.

I’m glad there’s a law na requiring car seats! I hope they’ll be strict in implementing it. I feel bad though because my almost 6-yo hates car seats!

This is good news! Sana lang parents should consider safety measures and strictly follow the rules. My kids aged 10 and 4 but looks 14 and 8… are we required to have booster seats?
Yes, it should have required car seats for the babies and toddlers, for the safety of our little ones.
BTW. Ang ganda niyo ni Ms.Camille Prats.
I think Joie car seats are great, yun nga lang my youngest hates car seats..
