I’ve been hearing UNICEF and Trick-or-Treat in the same sentence a lot lately. I was not really sure what it’s all about though; all I know was that I can get a free kit from any Toy Kingdom branch. This morning, I finally dropped by TK to get a kit and see for myself what it’s all about.
When I inquired about UNICEF, the staff at the Customer Service asked me to choose a box design from 4 superheroes. I forgot to take a photo of the other 3 but this is what I chose. It looks like Green Lantern with its green mask.
Superhero
This superhero, as it turns out is G Street Kid, protector of the unfortunate street kids from child abuse pornography, child prostitution, and hunger.
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Superheroes Kit
After I have chosen my design, the saleslady then got out these items:
- Trick-or-Treat Superhero Mask
- Trick-or-Treat Badge Pin
- Trick-or-Treat Brochure/Parent Consent Form
- Trick-or-Treat Collection Box
I had to fill up the parent consent form, basically allowing my child to do the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.
What is it?
Trick-or-treat for UNICEF is the original Kids Helping Kids campaign that UNICEF has been running globally for over 60 years already. To date, it has raised more than $167 million and it continues to inspire the young (and young at heart) to make a difference in the lives of children in the Philippines and all over the world!
The idea is to bring along the UNICEF collection box while you’re out trick-or-treating this Halloween season. Apart from handing in your pumpkin basket to get goodies for yourself, you also hand in your UNICEF collection box to get donations for children in need. What a great idea, right?
The few coins and bills that everyone gives can go a long way in helping provide the basic needs of a lot of children in the Philippines and also worldwide.
P500 helps 2 families with a month’s supply of safe drinking water.
P1,000 helps provide 4 people with essential hygiene supplies such as soap, towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and water pails.
P2,000 helps provide Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), vitamins, and medicines to 4 children.
Where to Turn in the Donations?
You can turn in the donations you have raised at any SM Bills Payment Counters located in all:
- SM Department Stores
- SM Supermarkets
- SM Hypermarkets
- Savemore
Don’t forget to ask for a receipt!
When to Turn in the Donations?
Do this on or before November 30, 2014. That’s about a month of collecting! 🙂
If you turn in your donations before the said date, you will receive a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Certificate of Appreciation. Cool! 🙂
What are you waiting for? Rush to your nearest Toy Kingdom now! They give out the kits until October 31, 2014 only!
#healthIsHappening Challenge Day 11
Day 11: Practice Helping Others
As a part of building a healthy habit (via Unilab Foundation’s Healthier PH Movement), we are joining this cause. It’s a good way to teach the children about helping and sharing with others. I’ve explained to DA the importance of the box. Using the illustrations in the box, I told him that we’re collecting money so we can help other children have water to drink, toothbrush and toothpaste to use, and medicine to drink when they are sick.
We’ve managed to collect a few pesos today from his teachers. Yey, thank you! 🙂 He got serious about collecting that when we got home, he rummaged through all his things (and mine!) to find every last peso lying around to put inside the box!
I’ve been hearing about this. Thanks for sharing it. We’ll be dropping by to get our own kit!

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and all. Nevertheless think of if you added some great visuals or
video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this blog could undeniably be one
of the greatest in its field. Wonderful blog!
