Trying out RUB Ribs & BBQ

Well hidden in Kapitolyo is this restaurant called RUB Ribs & BBQ. As the name implies, it offers no frills ribs and BBQ (plus so much more!) It joins the ranks of renowned Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan as one of 6 Restaurants in Metro Manila Worth Lining up for based on an article by Coconuts Manila.

Come, let’s go give it a try!

I meant it literally when I said well hidden. The front facade bore no big and flashy signage. It barely looked like a restaurant save for the line of people waiting in line outside.

There’s the sign!

The interiors gave the feel of a small diner. White and red stripes adorned the walls and chalkboard writings of the specials were up on the board.

We got there at 11AM to catch lunch and we were able to get a table without waiting. A few minutes later, the place was almost filled. By noon, there was already a long line outside. Be sure to go there early because it’s really no fun to wait in the heat outside.

BBQ Ribs are what it’s all about so that’s what we went there for. Here’s that particular page in the menu. Singles is generally enough for 1 person but for those with a bigger appetite, Super Duo is the way to go.

An order of this refreshing House Blend Iced Tea (P110) was just what we needed on that hot sunny day.

For starters, we ordered their Buffalo Chicken Wings (P255). It’s 7 pieces of yummy spicy chicken wings. I loved the blue cheese sauce that came with it! The bottom photo shows the Super Duo with 2 sides. The sprice (spicy rice) is but a small portion so if you’re a ricey kind of person, make the 2 sides into rice so that it’s not bitin. As for the ribs, it’s not the fall-of-the-bone kind but it was oh so tasty with the sauce! I wasn’t able to take a photo of the aftermath of the ribs but it sure was sarap to the bones!

To finish up, I’d recommend their Fried Oreos with Vanilla Ice Cream (P150) for dessert. Photo courtesy of RUB Ribs & BBQ since we were too excited to dig into this that I forgot to take a photo. It’s like fried bread with Oreo cookies inside topped with Vanilla ice cream in the middle. Ahhhh! So sinfully yummy! 🙂
