Can you still recall those days when you’d pluck out succulent fleshy aloe vera leaves to rub on your many insect bites.
Ahh…instant relief from the itch, right?
We had quite a number of aloe vera pots back when we were young. The plant, as they say, has many uses and is really quite magical, so to speak.
No wonder we often had slimy aloe vera jelly on our hair and skin at night. It sure was a slimy smelly mess for young kids like us.
Oh, how I’d love to have those back though. I haven’t seen a single aloe vera plant since…since I can’t remember when!
I’m wishing I can just pluck out a soothing plant somewhere just to keep the kids from scratching the big welts on their legs. Ugh, those mosquitoes!
It was a good thing then that our friends from Organic Basket, the exclusive distributor of Aloe Derma in the Philippines, sent this package of pure aloe goodness right to our doorstep!
In the basket were small glass bottles filled with oatmeal, coco sugar, organic honey, and extra virgin olive oil. The main stars of the basket were of course these two, the Pure Aloe Vera Gel and the Super Hydration Booster. The label read: 99.8% Organic Aloe Vera Juice. Oh, wow! It felt like I had just plucked out a succulent fleshy aloe vera leaf!
Just take a look at the gel in this tube. It’s not watery but more jelly, akin to the actual plant. It does not even smell good, meaning no artificial scents, further attesting to its pureness. Since when did aloe vera smell as good as perfume anyway?
The package also came with a simple recipe guide for me to make my own facial and hair masks. While you can use Aloe Derma products by themselves, you can also add other ingredients to further enhance the good effects of the aloe.
Here, I made a mixture out of oatmeal, honey, and the Pure Aloe Vera Gel. It’s supposed to be for oily skin. After washing it off, I instantly noticed the matte on my face. No Photoshop there. 🙂
I’m a bit lazy though when it comes to mixing and measuring so I tend to just use the Pure Aloe Vera Gel and the aloe juice (Super Hydration Booster) directly on my skin. I’ve been using it everyday, the juice during the day, the gel during the night, and I am so loving it! It doesn’t feel sticky nor heavy at all and my face does seem more hydrated and moisturized.
Well, it seems I’m not the only one loving it as the husband soon commented on how my face seems different, more radiant.
Ohhhh, really? 🙂
When I told him my secret, he immediately asked if he can use it on his hair. His hair’s thinning already and he definitely could use some of the magic of aloe. I made him some hair mask from the aloe gel one time but since I’m the lazy type, I got him the next best thing, an Aloe Derma Shampoo! I found this at Watson’s and it’s at P225. They also have a conditioner and hair and scalp tonic but I decided to get those after I’ve tried the shampoo.
After using the shampoo for a week, I’ve decided that I would definitely get the tonic and conditioner as well! I’ve paired it with my favourite conditioner as of the moment and unlike before, my hair feels so silky now. I can run my fingers through and slide them easily on my hair. It’s now more manageable and less frizzy. I seem to notice lesser hair in the drain as well after I shower. I do hope the husband is experiencing the same good effects as I have with the shampoo. I haven’t had the chance to ask him yet.
As for the kids, they’ve been experiencing the goodness of the aloe as well. The summer heat and the mosquitoes have not been very kind to their skin and I am so glad to have some aloe up my sleeve to battle their itches.
