UPDATE: Check out our 8 Must-Try Jobs in KidZania Manila
KidZania Manila finally opened its doors for a preview to its industry partners yesterday and to members of the press today.
We can all hardly wait, right?
I was able to attend the preview today and I am zooper excited to share everything with you!
The venue was designed to look like an airport, KidZania International Airport to be exact. The registration area was made to look like airport checkin counters and tickets were in the form of boarding passes.
The friendly Zupervisors (as the staffs are called) were generous in greeting us with “Kai” or Hi in KidZania.
On one side of the wall hung 20 digital clocks, representing the different times of the 20 countries where there is a KidZania. KidZania Manila is the 20th!
Karen Davila, the show host, brought along her 7 year old son, Lucas.
KidZania Manila State Governor Maricel Pangilinan-Arenas and KidZania Founder and CEO Xavier Lopez Ancona gave their respective speeches.
Here’s the rest of the program but I’m sure you’re more excited to see what’s inside, right? Okay, let’s go!
Upon registration, you’ll get a pamphlet of KidZania city codes (read: rules!), a map, your boarding pass, and a BPI check for 50 kidZos, that’s the currency inside KidZania.
Here’s a closer look at the boarding passes and the check. You can encash the check at the bank inside the facility.
The adult companion and child are also given these cool looking security bracelets to wear. This will be the basis for them to safely leave the facility.
What is KidZania (Kid-zah-nia)?
Before we head on inside, what first is KidZania?
KidZania is the ultimate role-playing environment where kids get to live out their big dreams. They get to be kids who do grown up things. They get to be doctors, farmers, firefighters, writers, media people, singers, actors, vets, policemen, couriers in this safe and nurturing city.
The kids in KidZania get to work, learn, earn, spend, and save.
Just like how it is in real adult life.
KidZania is one of the fastest growing global educational entertainment brands, with facilities all over the globe from Mexico to Tokyo to London. KidZania Manila is the 20th KidZania city in the world, and the first of its kind in the Philippines.
KidZania Manila is a play city built to scale for children – complete with paved streets, transport system, and a functioning economy. Every detail is intended to project authenticity: from the activity itself, to uniforms and costumes, to the work gear and tools – and even the city interiors.
Check out the city!
It has its own fire station, police station, bank, school, restaurants, salons. You name it, they have it.
There are emergency vehicles as well to transport the citizens of this city.
That’s the RightzkeeperZ monument. RightzkeeperZ are 5 remarkable characters and are KidZania’s most celebrated residents. They come out once in a while to take photos with you so do watch out for them!
City Tour
Come, let’s take a tour of this wonderful city. This is, of course, not a complete and thorough tour. After all, it’s a big city with many many establishments. 🙂
KidZania has partnered with over 40 real-world brands who help bring realism to this kid-sized city so it’s no wonder that you will recognise most of the brands here.
LBC Courier Service
Here, the kids are trained in handling and delivering parcels and packages.
Cebu Pacific Aviation Academy
The kids get to be pilots and flight stewardesses here! Cool! 🙂
Shell Gas Station
Kids get to be gas boys and girls, filling up tanks and cleaning cars.
To be able to drive a car, one must first get a driver’s license in the driving school.
Farm House
The kids learn about planting seeds and making produce here.
St. Luke’s Hospital
The kids get to be surgeons in this operating room. How exciting! Or complicated?
They have a nursery inside also.
Awww…look at that baby!
Here, the child is taught how to bathe and dress a baby in the nursery.
Beauty Salon
The kids get to be hair stylists and makeup artists. Perfect for little girls! 🙂
Magnolia Ice Cream Factory
Here, the kids are taught how to make ice cream. They get to take home the ice cream afterwards.
Tour Company
What a nice looking tour bus! This is in partnership with the brand Chuckie and DOTC.
National Bookstore
Here, the kids are taught how to do creative storytelling.
McDonald’s
Yes, there’s a mcdo inside! The kids get to be behind the scenes making burger and fries. This is the prep area.
Philippine Daily Inquirer Newspaper
The kids apply as reporters or media people. They get to go around and gather newsworthy information, write it up, send to the editor, and…
have their articles printed out in a newspaper such as this! Nice!
DZMM Radio Station
Kids get to be real DJs!
Look at this boy having fun in the booth!
Sky Building
It’s just like rock climbing. 🙂 Only for children ages 7 and up!
Centro Escolar University
This is the place where the kids can earn degrees. They higher their degree is, the higher their wages are!
That’s what the school looks like inside.
These are the courses offered.
Yellow Cab Pizza
This is the prep area where the kids can prepare the pizzas.
Via Mare
ABS CBN Theater
Kids can opt to be stars of the show…
or work behind the scenes
or operate these sophisticated looking cameras.
Pet Express Vet Clinic
Game Room
This is one of the party rooms should you choose to celebrate your child’s birthday party in KidZania. It offers kool tabletop games and karaoke! 🙂
Jail House
Well, there is a police department so this is where they put the bad guys they’ve caught. 🙂
Fire Station
Where kids are trained to be firefighters.
There’s a real live mini firetruck!
The firefighters hop on to go save the day.
Off they go!
To the burning hotel!
They get to put what they learned into good use.
KidZos and What to Do with Them
The wages that the kids earn inside KidZania are called kidZos. (I borrowed this photo from my previous KidZania Tokyo post as I was not able to take a photo of Manila kidZos)
At the end of the day, they can choose to spend it by buying things from the KidZania Department store or the KidZania Tyangge (oh yes, there’s a tyangge inside!)
or they can be more prudent and open a bank account with BPI, the resident bank inside and deposit their earnings. They earn interest, by the way!
Should they need money next time, the kids can just easily withdraw them from the ATM machines around the city. So real life, huh? Even the economic aspect of the city is covered!
Note also that there are some establishments that require kidZos instead of letting the kids earn them. An example is getting your driver’s license to drive a car requires the child to pay kidZos.
Souvenirs
These are some of the souvenirs in the KidZania gift shop.

- Child visitors above 8 years old shall be allowed to remain in the facility without a parent/guardian.
- Outside food and drinks are not allowed.

Children need to learn how to use their senses. Sensory play helps them develop and use them. In my opinion, I think that is what Kidzania Manila offers. My child and I are so excited to visit it soon! 🙂
