It’s the husband’s birthday today so I decided to cook something special. Plus, I’m actually craving for a change in cuisine as I’m not much of a fan of the chef’s menu lately.
Anyway, these tiger prawns have been in the freezer for so long that they’re begging to be cooked already.
I checked the pantry and found that I have enough of what I need to make Prawns Thermidor, a personal favorite! The name sounds so sophisticated but it actually is super easy to make!
Whenever I make this, I always try to add something new with the sliced prawns. Before, I’ve tried adding bell peppers and on another occasion, Shitake mushrooms. This time, I’ll be trying these sliced mushrooms from Jolly.
The prawns were butterflied, the shells washed, the onions sliced, the mushrooms ready.
Saute the onions, mushrooms, and shrimp meat. Season with salt. You can sprinkle in Parsley flakes also. I actually bought some but forgot to put them! Ay!
Prepare the cream sauce by heating cream with sliced onions. Season with salt.
Arrange the shrimp shells on a tray.
Scoop in the cooked shrimp meat.
Top each with the cream sauce.
And finally, go crazy with adding cheese on top. I used cheddar, mozzarella, and Kraft Eden cheese. Finally, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Heat in the oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese melts. Cool, serve, and enjoy! 🙂
